Getting the Facts Straight
I thought we needed an area for people to post the truth about common misconceptions related to our city such as: Budget, Taxes, Disputes and so forth. We all need to become more aware of the operations of our city so that we may understand the issues from all sides. Many people in this city look at only one side of an issue and take it as fact. If we help each other to understand how the city functions then perhaps there will be less disagreements over non-issues.

Well said Abagail. It's too bad people have to resort to rumors when the truth is so much easier to believe and remember. One of these days these people will be caught in one of their lies and have to pay for it. I hope I'm there to see it. Buy the way, according to City Hall records the Police Chief did not make over $92,000 last year, not even close. Don't believe me...check it out for yourself at city hall.
ReplyDeleteAt last night's City Council meeting (9/22/09) we had two citizens comment on the presence of a Peeping Tom who has been looking through windows around our town. The suspect has been seen numerous times but has not been apprehended. He has been seen dressed in all black clothing including a black hooded sweatshirt.
ReplyDeleteIt is not my intention to cause a panic but I felt this information was worth sharing immediately.
The next city newsletter will address this issue in greater detail.
There have been lots of rumors around town regarding the Army Corps of Engineers' plan to build an RV campground on Strawberry Island.
ReplyDeleteI spoke with Jim Runkles from the Corps and he told me they have dropped their plans for the foreseeable future due to budget concerns.
I view this as good news on several fronts as they would have been competing for business with our own Lewis and Clark RV Park as well as drastically changing the area around Strawberry Island which provides a wonderful recreational area for our residents and visitors.
